If you don’t already have an effective skin care routine in place, a change of season is the perfect time to give your skincare routine an overhaul. Beautiful clear skin is something that we all strive for and no number of expensive products will be able to fix your skin care issues if you are using the products in the wrong way, or maybe not frequent enough.
A good skin care routine starts before you even touch a single product. An amazing skin care routine won’t be nearly as effective if you are not feeding your body the correct nutrients. That means no to fast food, no to oily, greasy food, and treating your body like the Holy Grail it is. One simple ingredient is the most effective detoxifier known to man and it is often overlooked – Water! Replace that soda and sugary fruit juices with plain old water and not only will your skin reap the benefits but so will your body. You will even feel better – trust us!
Now to the skin care: Here we give you a simple 3 step routine guaranteed to beautify your skin.
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing is the most important part of your skin care routine. An
artist needs a clean pallet to begin his masterpiece; the same is true
for the face. A gentle, water soluble cleanser, or even a milk based
cleanser should do the trick. Apply your chosen cleanser and wipe off
with a tissue or cotton pad. For best results, cleanse twice! This will
make sure to get rid of all that nasty dirt that has attached itself to
your face throughout the day as well as removing every remnant of make
up.
Tip: Make sure you never use a towel to wipe the face (they
are full of bacteria – yummy!). You could use a skin care device such as
the Clarisonic to really get the product’s to work their magic!
Step 2: Tone
Toners are just what your skin needs to hydrate and replenish it. They also help with reducing redness and dry patches. Apply your toner to a cotton pad and gently wipe the face, avoiding the delicate eye area. This will prepare your skin and enable it to have the maximum absorption of your moisturizer.
Step 3: Moisturize
Your skin has now been cleansed and fully prepped to be able to fully
absorb the moisturizer of your choosing. Everyone should moisturize
their skin even if they have acne! The skin needs moisture even oily
acne prone skin. Be careful to choose the correct one for your skin
type. For example, those with oily skin should opt for a light
moisturizer and stay far away from heavy creams and oils.
Exfoliating
should not be part of your everyday routine. It is much too harsh for
the face. You should be aiming to add facial exfoliation into your
routine 2-3 times a week and it should be added after step 1
(cleansing).
Top Tip: Make sure you are changing your pillow case 1-2 times a week and to sleep on your back! The less contact you have with your pillow, the better!
