Home Made Face Masks For Younger Looking Skin

tratamentos para a pele - antiaging

Let’s talk about home-made facemasks. Because let’s face it, we all want beautiful clear skin and sometimes we want to be able to indulge in a luxurious face mask without breaking the bank. Or maybe we are just feeling too lazy to go down to the shops. On top of that, there’s also a lot to be said about what actually goes into your skin care products, so why not skip into your kitchen, and make your very own concoction?

The recipes are endless!! When armed with your kitchen in hand, you can make endless combinations of fruits, veggies, milk products, oils etc. to make a face mask suited to your skin! Now is the chance to play chemist in your kitchen and make your very own mask that costs a fraction of the price, not to mention, a mask where you truly know where the ingredients came from.

Here are a few masks to get you started …

1) An Anti-Aging Wine Mask

Yes you did read that right! Wine is an excellent antioxidant and has even been shown to prevent UVA light from damaging the skin (UVA light rays are well known to be responsible for wrinkles). Combining wine with eggs makes for the perfect tightening face mask.

Ingredients:
1 egg
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons of red wine

Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients well until fully combined. You can then use a brush (try a pastry brush) to spread the concoction into a thin layer on your face (don’t forget the neck and Décolleté) and be careful to avoid the eye area. Let dry and then wash off with warm water. Voila!

2) A Tomato Summer Mask

In the summer when your face is craving that extra protection from the damaging UV rays of the sun. A Tomato based mask is perfect! ‘Why?’ I hear you ask. Because tomatoes contain lycopenes, which help to not only improve collagen production, but also fight against skin –damaging free radicals.

Ingredients:
1 cup tomatoes, peeled and crushed
1/3 cup cornmeal
1 egg white
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon honey

Directions:
Combine the ingredients together into a past and apply to fresh skin. Leave on for 10-15 minutes for maximum benefits and then rinse off. Follow with a hydrating serum or gel if needed.

3) Anti-Acne and Skin Toning Honey Mask

This mask is perfect before a big event to soothe and tone the face. The Greek yogurt will help to minimize any impending break out whilst the honey acts as a skin softener that will reduce any current acne. This is a truly glow inducing face mask!

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Manuka honey
1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
1/2 cucumber

Directions:
In a blender, puree the ingredients. Spread the mask over the entire face and leave for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water to reveal soft and glowing skin.

Bonus Tip – Try using and exfoliator or better yet microdermabrasion device such as the Glo-Me before applying your facemask. The Glo-Me will thoroughly remove any dead skin on the face whilst also softening the skin. This will open up your pores to the fullest, and allow any product or mask, to sink deep into the skin. This way you can reap more benefits from products and any mask you may make.

Happy masking!
