Say Goodbye to Ingrown Hairs Forever with This Trick

alegria de viver

Ingrown hairs are pesky little nightmares, but that red bump is not the enemy – You are! Chances are it’s so small you’re the only one that can truly notice it, but touching, picking and squeezing it is just going to turn it into an inflamed mess – now that will be noticeable! Want to know the trick to gettin rid of them? Then read on…

The risk of developing an ingrown hair comes any time you remove hair from the body. Shaving, waxing, plucking, you name it. Certain people are at higher risk, you can thank your genes for that thick curly hair on your head but it doesn’t translate too well to the bikini area when it comes to ingrown hairs. Those with thick and curly hair are far more likely to experience the delights of ingrowns compared to our fine, thin haired counterparts.

But don’t fret there is a solution, in fact plenty of them but first and foremost lies in preventing them to begin with!

Shake up Your Hair Removal Method

The Rolls-Royce of hair removal is of course laser and IPL (intense pulse light) –though a fear of lasers and the cost can be a major deterrent for many. But with fast growing technologyentering the beauty world there are plenty of near painless and not to mention reasonable, laser hair removal machines on the market that you can now buy at home! You can say goodbye to that expensive and time consuming spa, and just do it yourself. It is no more difficult than shaving your own legs. But, even between laser treatments you will need to be shaving therefore shaving cream will be your new best friend.

Shaving: Though it seems totally counterproductive, you need to be shaving with the grain (i.e. in the direction of hair growth) and NOT against it. By pushing the hair in different directions you are just asking for an ingrown hair to show its friendly face. You are making it easier for the strands to get stuck underneath the skin as they regrow – not the look we are going for.

Random Exfoliation Won’t Cut It

On top of your new permanent hair removal machine and shaving cream you will need to also make friends with a very good exfoliator. If you are serious about removing ingrown hairs you should be exfoliating at least twice a week – and yes, this does include your bikini area. Salt and sugar exfoliators work wonders.

You could also try dry brushing. The art of dry brushing will leave your skin smooth and bump free banishing chicken skin for good whilst keeping those ingrowns at bay.

If you are a chronic sufferer of ingrown hairs, be prepared to be amazed by the results. A small investment in your own machine can seriously take your confidence up a notch and will be a life-time investment worth making!
If these tips don’t help and you still experience the odd one (it can happen), just remember not to pick!
